An ad for Continental Airlines sometime in the 70's. You may recognize the man narrating as Nicholas Hammond, who portrayed "Peter Parker/ Spiderman" in the abbreviated AMAZING SPIDERMAN television series telecast from 1977-1979. And look for a cameo by Buster Crabbe.

God. You mean there was a time when flying wasn't the shittiest way to travel?

Unfortunately, I remember the days of legroom, meals, and people smoked on planes. Jeez.

Hard to believe, right? I was 10 years old in 1976, and flew twice a year to visit my mom. I remember it well. Magazines, free decks of cards, hot meals, cockpit visits. There was even one trip when the captain of the 727 let my brother and me push the throttles forward as we pushed back from the gate. The end of an era, to be sure.
